New coaches, Division names, and a Tour to the Bahamas. Oh my!

On Tuesday October 16th, the Trident RFC held the first practice session of the upcoming 2018-2019 rugby season. The Club's defense of and the strive for a fourth straight State Championship begins. Practices will be held on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7 to 9 o'clock PM at Charles Hadley Park. The address is 1350 NW 50th St, Miami, FL 33142.

Along with many new players, the Tridents also welcomed three new coaches. At the helm this season will be former Trident and USA Rugby South captain, Hein Erasmus. Assisting him will be former Trident Lock, Oliver Hire. Last, but not least is Dimitri Efthimiou who joins the Club after a long run with Mystic River RFC of Boston, Mass. Returning to assist the coaches in ways too numerous to count will be "Mad Dog" Toms in his role as Team Manager. Hein Erasmus and Oliver Hire are long time members of the Club and all three coaches bring with them decades worth of rugby experience at a high level. Expectations for the upcoming season could not be higher.

Another major change this season is that for the first time in Club history, the Tridents will be fielding two sides in different divisions. The 1st XV's will be competing in the newly renamed Premier Division, while the 2nd XV's will play in Division I.

Up next is a tour to the Bahamas this weekend to play the Freeport RFC. The following weekend, The Tridents will be playing a double-header on Oct.27th. First will be a Florida Cup match versus the Miami RFC, followed by a friendly against the UM RFC. Both games will be held at Ron Ehmann Park. The address is 10995 SW 97th Ave, Miami, FL 33176. Kickoff is at 1 o'clock.

As always, The Tridents encourage anyone interested in joining the Club as a player or social member to reach out to us. Contact Leonel Ruiz for more information. We look forward to seeing many old and new faces at the pitch and the pub.
